50G PON的一篇市场分析报道:50G PON and the Rise of Ubiquitous 10G
Passive optical networking (PON) is the access technology of choice for thousands of operators across the world, driven by its ability to deliver high-bandwidth, reliable broadband services over a point-to-multipoint (P2MP) topology in a cost- and space-efficient manner. Since 2018, 10G PON deployments have enabled multi-gigabit broadband speed tiers as well as supporting applications beyond residential. New applications continue to arise that require high-bandwidth, low-latency, and cost-effective solutions. This paper explores various use cases for 50G PON, including the demand for ultra-high bandwidth in the home, particularly for immersive technologies like “nakedeye 3D,” which requires significantly increased bandwidth. It also discusses the application of 50G PON in industrial and enterprise settings, emphasizing the need for low-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity to support digital production processes and quality control. In addition, it explores the growing need for advanced networking for Smart Cities and Smart Campuses, which are innovating at a rapid pace. Operators can meet these requirements by embracing ubiquitous 10G access – the concept where networks need to seamlessly support a wide range of applications and end users. 50G PON can further support cloud network-attached storage (NAS) services, network assurance demands with hard slicing, and intelligent network management to fulfill a variety of user requirements. The technology supports network planning beyond 10G, is compatible and can coexist with previous generations of PON, and will further operators’ green initiatives. A wide-ranging list of operators from around the world have verified 50G PON technology and a number have already launched pilot projects and have plans to commercially deploy in 2024. Omdia forecasts 50G PON will continue to grow well into the 2030s as emerging applications require next-gen PON capabilities and more vendors introduce 50G PON solutions
