A transmission channel carries an audio signal that has been band-limited to the frequency range from 0 to 16000 hertz and amplitude limited to + or - 5 volts. This signal is to be converted to binary digital form, using 256 levels of quantization.
a) What is the data rate of the resulting binary bit stream?
b) What is the required bandwidth of the transmission
channel?
c) What is the rms quantization noise?
Problem 2
The sinusoidal voltage 10 sin(6280t) is sampled at t=0.33 milliseconds and thereafter periodically at 3000 samples per second. The samples are then uniformly quantized into eight voltage levels and coded into binary. Draw the original voltage, the outputs of the sampler, the quantizer and the encoder. Also calculate the rms quantization noise.
